Just picked up version 4.0 of the BumGenius One Size Cloth Diaper just recently released and arriving in stores across the nation. Inside the box is the diaper itself, along with an adjustable size insert and a newborn insert.

For those just learning about cloth diapers, this diaper is a pocket diaper, and thanks to its snapping system, it can fit babies from 8lbs to 35+ lbs. This way, you aren't buying new diapers as your baby grows.

A pocket diaper is just as it sounds, a diaper with a pocket to insert absorbable material. Here's a shot of the empty pocket.

To get this guy in action, first give it a pre-wash, then stick the thick absorbable material inside the pocket, and your reusable poo catcher is good to go.

To make these long lasting diapers last longer, the elastic can be removed and replaced when worn out. However, you must feel comfortable with a thread and needle.  Please excuse my gross man looking hands, I am in desperate need of lotion and a visit to the nail salon.

So are babies are a bit big nowadays. So am I and so are you :) BumGenius has increased the size on the new versions giving our kids a bigger roost for their caboose. As you can see, the largest size fits on our wide-waisted, fuzzy friend Teddy.

The new snaps on the diaper are strong and come together with a much satisfying "snap". If I had a choice between popping bubblewrap all day or playing with the BumGenius 4.0 snaps, I would seriously take the BumGenius cloth diaper. They seem extremely well built and solid.

If you already have the 3.0, the 4.0 is worth a whirl. If your on a budget like most of us that cloth diaper, the 3.0 supplies at stores are running low to make way for the 4.0s, so you're likely to find a deal on the 3.0s. If so, I would take it over the 4.0s. BumGenius is a great brand that makes quality diapers, whatever the version.
