So, I've a bit of a confession to make. Admittedly, I'm the monkey see monkey do type. I a bit of a Hollywood wannabe. If I see a star do something that seems hip and cool, I gotta do them same. I know. Pathetic. Sue me.

The main reason I started out with cloth diapers was because Maggie Gyllenhaal used them. I loved her in the movie Paris, je t'aime, a GREAT movie by the way, and I saw an article in People magazine the she was using them, so I made a experimental switch. I wanted to start out with those crazy tie-downs that she used, but I couldn't find them anywhere, so I just picked up a wool cover and some pre-folds, wanting to stay natural, like Maggie.

I'm kinda embarrassed about my Hollywood addiction, after all, I'm the director of a high profile college program, which of course will remain nameless, I supposed to keep up the illusion of my intelligence! :P So I didn't outright preach and testify my newfound addiction. I kept my head down low, and kept a strict "don't ask don't tell" policy. The only people that knew where my closest friends, which was hard to hide my addiction from.

And quite the addiction it blossomed to be. I was sincerely hooked. I started to realize how awesome these things were. Gone was the trash can of stench. The 7-11 guy must of missed me, I was starting to make friends with him for all the late night diaper runs I was making. I swear, my son beamed when I changed his diapers? That might just be in my head...

I continued with my addiction. I began to grow a stash, as it is called in the cloth diapering community. I bought Funzbunz, I bought Bumgenius, I bought Bummis, it was getting a bit bad.
My circle of friends eventually found out. My hero and best friend in the whole world Luna, started her inquisition. Questions like "how much do they cost", and "how do you wash them" become part of our conversations. At first, I was reluctant to talk about them, but her enthusiasm egged me on, and I think I subconsciously tried to make her a convert!

Then I remember, a coffee trip to The Alcove in Los Angeles, she brought her baby decked out in a brand new cloth diaper. She was glowing! She couldn't stop with the diaper talk. After a couple years passed, our whole group of friends have nothing to talk about except for the fistful of dough in their purses from all the money they save with cloth, and the lack of diaper rash their babies have. So for those parents with the zip lip with cloth diapering, your friends are gonna find out and your gonna convert them!
