Target and Walmart: Please Carry Cloth Diapers in your Stores!

ATTENTION TARGET, WALMART AND RETAILERS

<p style=

The market for cloth diapering is growing at expanding. Parents are interested in reducing household costs and putting money into their savings accounts. Parents are also using cloth diapers to protect the planet for our children's future.

Even though the demand for cloth diapering is strong, they are not stocked at your local stores. We, the undersigned below, believe that this must be changed. We believe that putting them in your local stores will benefit that economy as well as the environment.

With the current state of the global economy, many households are interested in saving money. Cloth diapering can cut up to $2000 off their diapering costs.

8 Billion diapers filled with toxins, intestinal viruses and harmful bacteria are transported illegally to our nation's landfills. World Health Organization guidelines are violated every time someone disposes a diaper without emptying it of its contents.

By signing the petition below, you tell the Target, Walmart and other retailers that there is a strong demand for cloth diapers and that they should start putting them on the shelves.

Petition

I want cloth diapers and cloth diapering products to be on the shelves of retailers.

I believe that cloth diapers are a great way to save money, and that other parents would be interested in cloth diapers.

I believe that if more people switched to cloth, the planet would be a better place environmentally.

I believe that stocking shelves with cloth diapers is a win for our economy and our planet.

I understand and respect the efforts of the WAHM that are trying to spread the word, but unfortunately stores that carry cloth are not readily available everywhere; big name stores are everywhere! If they carry cloth diapers, it would make it much easier to try a variety of brands and really be able to see what works best for your little one.
As for education at those stores, it's just as simple to have product representatives have display/show days where they give product demos and/or coupons, as well as educate the consumer; just like they do for other products at the store. I was able to purchase my dipes from online, as well as find patterns to make my own, but not everyone has that ability, especially people that would benefit most from cloth due to monetary constraints. For instance, those on federal assistance get help with most baby supplies, with the exception of diapers. By having cloth readily available in their local superstore would allow most all people to have the opportunity to at least try an option that they would otherwise not consider. It would also have the potential of enabling the fed government to be able to assist with diapering costs for those families on public assistance programs as well, since the monetary strain on them would be significantly lessened.

Target already offers them online, why can't they put them on their shelves. More people would cloth diaper if they see something other than the cheapo flats and prefolds that they do put out along with those horrid rubber pants.

Cloth diapers available at big box stores would definitely help spread the word. There are local consultants/salespersons as well as birth centers/midwives in most towns who can educate folks on how to use & care for the cloth diapers. The important part is easy access to the products, which is where Target & Walmart and other large retailers can come in.

Cloth diapers would be more mainstream if they were readily available. Wahm's do make an awesome product and would be receiving additional exposure do to Wal-Mart and Target carrying cloth in a larger sense than just the flats.

DISAGREE: We all want cloth diapering to be more mainstream...BUT

What about those who have been doing all the leg work for the last decade? There are many, many, many existing WAHMs that are trying to get Brick and Mortar stores set up across our nation. They carry the brands that most people would hope to see in a Walmart/Target...they won't be able to compete as Wally offers a huge buying power. These small businesses fail instead of thrive and you will - in the long run - hurt your local economy more than help it, even factoring in more people trying/using cloth.

How can big box HELP new cloth diapers get started right? Wally also won't be able to offer advice and suggestions for use as the sales staff won't be knowledgable...this could easily lead to customers buying, struggling and giving up on cloth all together. Stores specifically for cloth diapering or natural parenting will be able to help these newbies as they dive into cloth.

You likely are close to or can get FREE shipping from small businesses carrying the brands of cloth diapers you love! Google it, use etsy/hyenacart to find them, join your local mindful mamas, natural parenting or cloth diapering groups. Any big brand diapers I've used I've bought through WAHMs...always with free shipping or a discount code. They rock folks, they support their families directly...use 'em!

If these small businesses/WAHMs fail, what happens? The families they support will suffer. Most work from home to keep their kids out of expensive and less than ideal daycare situations. I could not work for Target or Walmart and pay for daycare for my kids....I'd have to go on State Childcare assistance. Don't think that will help our economy much.

WAHMs work hard for a small profit....most WAHMs will dedicate their time and energy to educate people on cloth, regardless of weather they have a sale. It is our *passion* not just another item to make a profit on. We want people to succeed, not just try and we go the extra mile to get them there.

Love the push to make cloth more popular and mainstream....hate the push to put in the big box stores that will kill all those who LOVE cloth, have a mission to get it more mainstream and work their tail feathers off to do it.

So....what can we really do to help make cloth more mainstream?

1. Support your LOCAL cloth diapering WAHMs or small businesses. By supporting them you are telling them there is a ever increasing market in their area...more push and 'umph to get them to open a brick and mortar store? Yes!

2. If you don't have a local WAHM, find a good internet based WAHM with free shipping. You are still going to have a bigger impact on our society and economy by purchasing through a WAHM! A larger percentage of each dollar will go back into the economy when you purchase through a small business/Work at home business!

3. Promote cloth to your friends...you know how to use cloth, where to find it, the different types.... teach them! You teaching one person *will* make a difference!

Again, we all want the world to cloth diaper....but not sure why the push to get them into the stores that are eating and killing the small local businesses is seen as a good thing.

I would love to have Cloth Diapers available at an easy to reach, convenient place. If they were stocked along side regular diapers, people might realize how easy they actually are to use!

I buy the Gerber Birdseye flat diapers from Walmart. I'm not asking them to create a whole new corner for cloth diapers so they can stock, AIO, AI2, fitted, pocket, diaper covers, etc. But they al ready sell the flats so it would only make sense to ATLEAST carry velcor or snap covers. All they have are those stupid vinyl pants for toddlers sizes. But if they did create a whole corner to stock every cloth diapering option that would be awesome. I think more moms would atleast consider and try to use cloth.. A lot of people out there, even in the tech savvy world we live in, are not very good w/ computers and don't know how to order online or they simple don't feel safe using their cc for online transactions. If cloth would be put on the shelves at local stores, such as Walmart & Target, more people would consider it. And more people wil start using cloth & save money and the earth at the same time!!! Walmart, Target...not only will parents benefit from & love you for doing this...you will also reap the rewads in your sales. So please, even if just for a limited time, stock some cloth diapers!!!

Although I would hate to see the cloth diaper movement enter the "corporate machine" of stores like Target and Wal-mart if it meant losing some of the quality and appeal due to mass production, I would love to see some basic variety of Fuzzi Bunz, Bum-Genius, or similar easy to use all-in-one diapers and accessories. I think larger chain stores would make a good entry point for more families to come to cloth diapering and find a basic good cloth diapering system that works for them.

I would love to see cloth diapers AND accessories in walmart and target! If more people had first hand access to them they would be more likely to use them. Yes buying offline supports WAHM's and companies but we also have to pay shipping.I would love to see not only name brands EX: Fuzzi Bunz, G diapers, Bum Genius, Knickernappies, and other name brand compaines but WAHM's too! Oh and they should carry babylegs, wetbags and pail liners and laundry soaps too!
Our closest storefront cloth shop is 3 hours away! and a lady Just opened an online store in my town and i can buy from her and not pay shipping but I would really want a one stop shop for everything!

I would love to be able to buy more than just Gerber cloth diapers in my local Walmart or Target diaper aisle! We use gDiapers and would LOVE to be able to pick them up while we were doing our other shopping. You guys haven't gotten a penny of my "diaper money" since we made the switch to g's in 2007 just because they aren't available in the store. If iI have to order online I can't wait a week for them. One of your competitors offers free 2 day shipping that is where I am now getting almost EVERYTHING I need for my babies & kids!
